Sunday, July 28th, 2013 Focus: I choose to confront my fears and release and heal them.

Our inner dragons of fear can keep us from having meaningful relationships. These fears can make us run from love and intimacy and hide from the very things we say we most want. Fear and relationship do not belong together.

Fear patterns begin early in life and affect every relationship we have. José Stevens, in his book Transforming Your Dragons, discusses these very fear patterns. Dr. Stevens says the people who have great amounts of fear waste a lot of energy. They repeat the same mistakes over and over, and tend to see the world in black and white terms. They will see themselves as perfect or they will see themselves as worthless.

It is fear that keeps us from leading meaningful and fulfilling lives, so the main work in our lives is confronting these fears and releasing and healing them.

Fear and Relationships Are Not A Good Match

RECOMMENDED BOOK OF THE DAY

Friday, July 25th, 2013 Focus: I choose to prioritize and use my time intelligently.

People today commonly say that they don’t have enough time, are crazy busy and stressed out, and inevitably experience time-crunch in these speeded-up times. However, I find that it’s not time we lack, but priorities, focus, and awareness. We actually have all the time in the world, should we choose to use it intelligently.

Life is time, and time is life. Squander it at your peril. Time is an endangered natural resource today. Killing time is just deadening ourselves; you snooze, you lose. And how we live our lives makes all the difference.

We need to wake up right now within this gritty existence and not in some later idealized place or state. It’s now or never, as always. This is our greatest challenge and our opportunity.

Awakening Together: Awareness Is Curative

Thursday, July 24th, 2013 Focus: I am safe. I am worthy.

Beautiful
You already know the Yabbits; they are the voices inside your head, the doubts and the put-downs in your mind. Yabbits are the voices that argue against you. Our Yabbits were programmed early in life and were originally designed to keep us safe by keeping us in line. Yah that looks like fun, but you better not do that or else you’ll break your arm. Yah-but if anyone finds out, you’ll get in a heap of trouble. Yah-but you don’t know how to drive yet. So sometimes the yah-buts really do keep us safe, but as time passes, things change.

Knowledge is the key here; understanding that there is nothing out to harm you no matter what it may look like, then using your wisdom to reveal the true intent and bring out the joy.

Even though the voices are powerful and persuasive, there is only one core you, and that “you” is a worthy, deserving person with the wherewithal to be and do anything you can conceive.

Wednesday, July 24th, 2013 Focus: I choose to believe in what my life can offer to those around me and the world I live in.

Trust and surrender are the keys that open the treasure chest of your soul. Believe in gnosis, that intuitive felt sense in which you know without knowing how you know. Memory, intellect, and academia do not inform gnosis. Gnosis is pure knowing informed only by the heart and soul; it is the highest form of human intelligence.

Gnosis engages our intuition, our sense of feeling and reveals our true wisdom. Information is power, gnosis is empowerment. Too much left brain activity with its emphasis on intellectual and academic information is not conducive for accessing the sixth sense of gnosis. Forget what you think and believe what you feel.

Your higher Self is urging you to let go and let God and to release all conditioning, belief in struggle, in suffering, and attachment to false security. Start to believe in the magnificence of who you truly are and what your life can offer to those around you and the world you live in.

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013 Focus: I give myself permission to practice forgiveness and compassion.

monkey_parliament2
Life is too short and precious to let the poison of resentment steal even a bit of our joy, love and enthusiasm. Is there someone in your life that you have “written off” or closed your heart to? Is there a resentment that is so strong that it still lives inside of you? This resentment and closed heart toward anyone is poisoning you and affecting those closest to you.

I remember when we first started our counseling practice and a woman came to us that had been raped. Her anger at being raped was so intense that she was having trouble working and was losing her friends and even her marriage. We asked her to try forgiveness and compassion. She looked at us like we were crazy.

One month later we received a letter of gratitude. Though difficult, she had practiced forgiveness and compassion in her thoughts about this man, and as she did, the anger and poison melted away and in their place the wonderful loving person returned.

RECOMMENDED BOOK OF THE DAY

A Mother’s Final Gift: How One Woman’s Courageous Dying Transformed Her Family — by Joyce and Barry Vissell.

The story of one courageous woman and of her tremendous love of life and family, and her faith and resolve. It is also the story of her equally courageous family who, in the process of rising to the occasion and carrying out Louise s long-held final wishes, not only overcame so many stigmas about the process of death but, at the same time, rediscovered what it means to celebrate life itself. This book not only touches the heart in a very powerful, poignant, and joyful way, but reading it is life-changing for me.

Sunday, July 21st, 2013 Focus: I give myself permission to “get real” and be free of my personal story and limiting beliefs.

Getting Real develops your self-awareness. The result is self-realization — making real the parts of yourself that you thought you had to hide to survive. And I mean all the parts, not just the pretty ones. Self-realization also leads you back to the simple, direct awareness of yourself as a being increasingly free of your personal story and the limiting beliefs you’ve picked up along the way.

We human beings have far more potential than we give ourselves credit for: there is so much more love that we could feel, so much more reality that we could perceive, so much more excitement and energy that we could contain and vibrate with.

All we need is genuine curiosity, an openness to experiment, and a willingness to experience with awareness whatever comes up. The prize you will attain for this effort is a deep and abiding trust in yourself and in life that no one can ever take away from you.

Friday, July 19th, 2013 Focus: I take time to be with myself, to shut out the distractions, and recharge.

If you’re like most people, you’re working more hours than your parents had to for a comparable lifestyle. You have less leisure time, are more stressed, feel routinely anxious and behind on your responsibilities, and see no end to the challenge.

We’re bombarded with stimulation, and we’re always running because we can’t seem to get caught up. But this frenetic life we lead is a real crisis, a disaster, and even a potential death sentence.

We’ve got to take time to be with ourselves and listen to our thoughts, bodies, and inner wisdom. We’ve got to shut out the distractions, silence the background noise, and force ourselves to create and protect be-with-myself time. We must recharge. And then, from our place of greater wholeness, we’ve got to work at building connections into our lives. We have to swim against the current, making sure that what has healed us as a people from one generation to the next doesn’t get lost in the race to advance.

Thursday, July 18th, 2013 Focus: Forgiving myself and others releases me from the prison of the past.

You can never be free of bitterness as long as you continue to think unforgiving thoughts. How can you be happy in this moment if you continue to choose to be angry and resentful?

Thoughts of bitterness can’t create joy. No matter how justified you feel you are, no matter what “they” did, if you insist on holding on to the past, then you will never be free. When you don’t flow freely with life in the present moment, it usually means that you’re holding on to a past moment. It can be regret, sadness, hurt, fear, guilt, blame, anger, resentment, or sometimes even a desire for revenge.

Each one of these states comes from a space of unforgiveness, a refusal to let go and come in to the present moment. Forgiving yourself and others will release you from the prison of the past. Only in the present moment can you create your future.

Key to Happiness: Let Go of Anger and Resentment and Choose Forgiveness by Louise Hay.

Thursday, July 11th, 2013 Focus: The essence of anything that will serve my higher good is within my reach.

The universe doesn’t say you can have what is good for you only after you make a million dollars. The universe says that whatever is for your higher good you can have right now, today. Ask yourself what you want money to give you, and then think of ways you could have the essence of those things right now. The essence of anything that will serve your higher good is within your reach.

If you think that having more money will give you inner peace, allowing the quality of inner peace into your life is your key to becoming magnetic to more money. Whatever you think having more money will give you — that is the quality you need to develop to become more magnetic to money and abundance.

For instance, some people think that having money will make their lives simpler. You can have a simpler life right now by developing and expressing the qualities that will allow you to do so, such as inner peace, well-being, or inner silence. Money will not give you a simpler life. In fact, if you do not learn to bring those qualities into your life that make your life simpler, money may make your life more complex rather than simplify it. If you have been wanting a simpler life, what could you do right now to begin to simplify your life?
