Wednesday, February 26th, 2014 Focus: I choose to listen to my body and treat it well.

nice1
Health is an announcement of agreement between your body, mind, and spirit. When you are not healthy, look to see which parts of you disagree. Perhaps it is time for you to rest your body, but your mind does not know how. Perhaps your mind is dwelling on negative, angry thoughts, or worries about tomorrow, and your body cannot relax.

All illness is self-created. Even conventional medical doctors are now seeing how people make themselves sick. Most people do so quite unconsciously. So when they get sick, they don’t know what hit them. It feels as though something has befallen them, rather than that they did something to themselves.

Your body will demonstrate the truth to you. Simply watch it. Notice what it is showing you; listen to what it is saying. If we listen to our bodies, and treat them well, we will get a great deal more use out of them.

Monday, February 24th, 2014 Focus: I let go of all that no longer serves me & arrive at a moment of awakening.

Toni

Toni

There are times in our lives when everything piles on top of us, and as a result, we make decisions for our lives that are not healthy, nor wise — wrong relationships, poor choices in behaviour patterns, addictions and more. Friends and loved ones may tell us we are on a destructive path, but we don’t listen, as it is a path that brings us comfort in the moment.

I truly believe that there are times in our lives that we are given a place to breakdown. It is through this “breaking down experience,” we undergo a powerful transformation, letting go of all that no longer serves us, arriving at a moment of awakening.

Now we rebuild ourselves, truly discovering who we are, what we are about and everything that we stand for — from the ground up. These are the powerful moments of true awakening.

Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 Focus: I release & let go of things that are not working for me.

Decide to be a victor and not a victim. Realize that it is you who deal life’s cards. If you do not like the cards you are holding, reshuffle the deck. If you still do not like your “hand,” get a new deck.

Release and let go of things that are not working for you. If allowed to remain, they can add pollutants that drain energy from your life.

Use your power to decide what stays in and what goes out of your life. Remember: it is your life.

Friday, February 21st, 2014 Focus: When upset, I calmly take several breaths to restore clarity, and move into a more peaceful moment.

Awesome
When a parent is angry, disappointed, or resentful, he/she needs to be cognizant of the fact that the child may become engulfed in the ripple effect. Sadly the child is the one who absorbs the immediate impact of their frustration.

It would be more appropriate for the parent to remove himself or herself before unleashing their fury onto their child. Then the parent can sit in a quiet place until the adrenaline dissipates.

The adult can calmly take several breaths to restore clarity, and move into a more peaceful moment. At this time the parent can rationally see how the child has nothing to do with the discord between mom and dad.

Thursday, February 20th, 2014 Focus: I am learning to assert myself in a clear non-threatening manner.

It goes to eleven
Asserting yourself in a clear non-threatening manner may not come as naturally to you as it does to others. First, figure out specifically what’s true for you about the situation you’re stuck in, then express your truth kindly, and finally, listen with openness to the recipient’s response.

I know, I know. You’re saying it’s not that simple to do, especially when emotions are maxed out, the topic is super-sensitive, and you’re strung out beyond belief.

It may take practice, just like any new skills does. But over time, you’ll be able to quickly identify what you really want to say and sound casual and non-confrontational when you say it. Your words may sound stilted to you at first, but you’ll still find the benefits far outweigh any temporary discomfort.

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 Focus: Uncomfortable emotions allow me to examine my beliefs and see if they are based on truth or illusion.

Beautiful
Uncomfortable emotions are like car alarms: they let us know there is a problem to attend to, a wound for us to work on, thus allowing us to see our own truth.

Whenever I’m upset, I know that something I hold to be true has been put to the test. I look at that agreement inside and out and ask myself, is it an agreement based on truth or illusion? If I am very attached to that agreement, I might end up using a lot of my energy to keep it alive. If I become skeptical, I am giving myself a choice to once again believe that agreement or not.

Whenever an emotion gets triggered, it is the opportune moment to ask questions such as: * What is this about? *What agreement is at the heart of this? *What attachment does this threaten? *Do I really believe this? *Is it important? Answering these questions gives us the opportunity to examine our beliefs and choose whether or not to continue to believe.

RECOMMENDED BOOK OF THE DAY

The Five Levels of Attachment: Toltec Wisdom for the Modern World — by don Miguel Ruiz Jr.

This is a book that picks up where The Four Agreements left off. Building on the principles found in his father’s bestselling book, Miguel Jr. explores the ways in which we attach ourselves inappropriately to beliefs and the world. Accessible and practical, his exploration invites us to look at our own lives and see how an unhealthy level of attachment can keep us trapped in a psychological and spiritual fog. He then invites us to reclaim our true freedom by cultivating awareness, detaching, and discovering our true selves.
