Saturday, August 31st, 2013 Focus: I choose to actively listen to the information I am receiving from my senses.

“Trust your gut instinct”… “I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do”… “I just had a feeling”… Our language reflects our understanding that the body has real wisdom and knowledge. Can you remember a time when your stomach knotted up in fear, your heart raced before an exciting challenge, you intuitively moved closer to a new love?

The human body comes equipped with an innate ability to intuit real danger, and a brilliant physical response system that knows when to run and when to fight — even when we are actively not listening to the information we are receiving from our senses. The body also has the inborn ability to know when we are safe, to know who can nurture us emotionally, and to bond in love and support with others.

That’s right: We are born with an innate instinct to survive and prosper, to love one another. One of the intrinsic ingredients that allows us to thrive is the experience of pleasure. However, when we are not actively listening to the information we are receiving from our senses, when we are taught that the language of the body will get us into trouble, it is much more difficult to respond naturally, to bond in long-lasting satisfying relationships with others.

Friday, August 30th, 2013 Focus: I choose to engage in activities that create a positive effect on my state of being.

Just being aware that your thoughts are powerful can change your life dramatically. If you become aware that negative thoughts are only going to resonate with negative situations, and that the more you dwell in a negative space, the more negative things you’re going to attract, then you can make the choice to feel something else.

Granted, changing gears from a very negative space to a very positive space is not always easy and can feel unnatural if you try to force it by deciding to just “be happy.” However, there are numerous ways to shift emotionally without it feeling forced or fake.

First, you can engage in an activity that will naturally change your state of being. This can be anything — taking a walk, playing a musical instrument, petting a dog. Engaging in virtually any kind of creative activity can create a positive effect on your vibration. You can also change your state dramatically by moving powerfully into action on your dreams…

Thursday, August 29th, 2013 Focus: I choose to see each moment as a clean slate.

The key is to always honor who you truly are and allow yourself to be in your own truth. As much as possible, I try not to carry any emotional baggage from one instant to the next. Instead I try to see each moment as a clean slate, bringing with it new possibilities.

So I do what uplifts me or brings me the most pleasure and joy at that time — and while that might mean meditating, it could just as well mean that I go shopping or eat chocolates, if that’s what I feel like.

Living more in harmony with who we truly are means being and doing things that make us happy, things that arouse our passion and bring out the best in us, things that make us feel good — and it also means loving ourselves unconditionally. When we can find that within us, things really start to get exciting, and we find synchronicities happening all around us.

Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 Focus: I am flexible and attentive and I trust what feels right.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Our world needs all of us to stop doubting our deepest Selves and know that where there is a passion, there is a path. With a heartfelt trust, we can walk through the haze of uncertainty, knowing that our next step will become visible. The old ways begin to naturally close down behind us and propel us forward.

When one person withholds their gifts or a part of themselves, it is a loss for all of us. Henry Van Dyke said, “Use what talents you possess. The woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.”

When you make a choice of path, remember that it may be for a day, or a lifetime. So do not become attached. Focus and commit, yes, but moment to moment, we must be flexible and attentive and trust what feels right.

Thursday, August 22nd, 2013 Focus: If I start having signs of stress overload or burnout, I listen, start problem solving, and redirect my life.

Too much of either positive or negative stress can result in stress overload, commonly known as “burnout.” Burnout occurs when you blow your circuits and feel physically and emotionally exhausted. If you say things like, “I used to love my work and now I can’t see the point” or “I can’t get out of bed anymore,” you may be burned out.

Work or career burnout happens when you begin to question the meaning and value of your work. If you strive endlessly to meet unrealistic expectations, you may come to a standstill. As uncomfortable as it is, burnout can often launch dramatic positive changes. When your body and psyche sound the alarm, your job is to listen and redirect your life.

All of us have difficulty getting up certain mornings, when it’s raining out or we have a dreaded meeting ahead of us, but pay attention if there’s a pattern. If you have a total of three or more warning signals that you experience on a regular basis, then it’s time to start problem solving.

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013 Focus: I use my imagination to change my thoughts and create a new image of myself.

Have you noticed that it’s your imagination acting inside you? You can do so much with your imagination! You can use it to create anxiety, problems and so on. Use your imagination to change your thoughts and create a new image of yourself.

You will be surprised to discover that your unconscious mind easily manages to do what you cannot do consciously. This means that the solutions it finds for you will always be in your best interests and those of others.

Remember this presupposition of NLP: “we are perfectly capable of succeeding whilst at the same time preserving the interests of others”. Entrust your unconscious mind and your energy with your problem and believe that it will sort it out. It will solve itself. Let it go.

Friday, August 16th, 2013 Focus: I forget the bad that happened in my past, and I get on with my life.

The champion has the mind of a winner. And the winner’s mind is filled with a firm, unshakable belief in good. A winner leaves no room for doubt. Doubt to a winner is like what being out of condition is to an athlete — a real handicap. The winner stays in condition by staying with this belief.

In order to achieve good, one’s mind has to be free of any encumbrances: blocks, barriers, and other “deadweight.” The only thought allowed to occupy and condition the winner’s mind is that good, and only good, is and will continue to be one’s constant expectation and experience.

That means the winner forgets whatever happened that was not good in the past, sets new goals, and moves forward to achieve these goals — that is, the winner gets on with his/her life.
